Another layout, and a full table

Sunday just past I spent the day at Huonville as is the way every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month and took with me a new display.
I wanted to try out a new basket I was given, my bags on a rack and make the table full and inviting with lots of bright goodies on show.
It was certainly bright and inviting.

Next market I would like to try having the tables against the wall and sitting next to it. I need to have a play at home with that before hand, as keeping everything under the table might make it awkward. ย And I would need to find somewhere to have my money and bags out of sight.
I’ve repacked my boxes so I can fit everything in with lids – 1 box only without – making it easier with the trolley and for when it’s wet. ย It’s just a matter of remembering where everything goes. ย  I packed up slower this week to make sure everything fit, and also because there was a lot more to do. ย I was one of the last to leave the hall, but that’s ok.
Just like when I have a new layout I will have to take pictures of what goes where in the boxes. Sounds silly, but if it means everything goes where it should and fits in the car then I have to do it.

Until next time.

Portable transport, finally.

It’s only taken me, way too long really. And while I grumbled each time I took 4-5 trips to and from the car (depending on what I took) with my boxes I never really did anything about it. Until now.
Browsing around Officeworks i spotted a foldable trolley!
For $25 I get a lightweight and strong little machine. Well, not a machine really, as it has no engine…
It folds flat so it will fit in the car easily between boxes and seats, and also fit under the table at market.
Now I will only need 3 trips. The first with my table and smaller bags, then two trolley loads. And I can make the boxes heavier now too.

Standing ready to use. It comes up to my waist, and I’m only 5’4″ so that gives you an idea of the height. Easy to push around.

And loaded with ready to go. I did a lap of the craft room to test it. Nice. I just have to be careful going over curbs.

I’ll post again from the market on Sunday,
Have a great Friday-Saturday

Craft room madness again – jewellery storage

I’m at it again. Re-sorting my room. Just one small part of it this time. Part of the made jewellery storage.
After my screen seemed to work for market display and transport, I re-jigged it and added business cards to the necklaces to help them hang better.
Today I went one step further.
My jewellery is currently stored in some great stationery drawers but the only place to put them means that the top ones are too high for me to see into clearly.
Bring back the business cards and one of my spinning racks. Ta-daa.
Have all my jewellery attached to cards. Everyone gets a card on purchase anyway. This way I can hang anything on the screen, and if they are on the spinner at home I can keep an eye on what I have, and organise it so the same things don’t go to two consecutive markets.
As you can see – crappy night pictures and all – they hang nicely and I have the top spinner for my bracelets.

These drawers are what I am using currently for storage. The only problem is that I can’t see into the top three without getting a step stool. Sure the rack is taller and I have to stretch to reach the top, but I can see instantly what is there, and if I don’t mind some of the longer chains sitting on the base piece the I can lower each section to a more manageable height.

This is only a portion of what I have in stock, I need to find or get more cards first.
How do you store your jewellery?

Space and display

I went shopping this morning, for food, but as is the way, while out I found something that would work for my new look display. Considering I cannot find this darling lady’s head I need to find something else..

I think this cute tree which will be perfect. and for just $12, a bargain.

And with earrings:

My display as I set it out the other night, with space for a cute earring tree.

I look forward to the next market.
Happy Friday and weekend ๐Ÿ™‚

It’s hard being creative sometimes….

This is what I said to hubby last night after his comment “you haven’t emptied this box yet” in regards to the order of beads I received several months ago. Yes months. “But you can put them on the shelf, or in containers”
All that is true. But I find once new beads are in boxes on the shelf I tend to forget about them. This way, when I opened the box this morning I found my chain and some focal beads to work on. Much easier.

Today is making day. And yes I am feeling decidedly creative. This creative mojo is a problem. For anyone who writes, makes, sings, does anything that uses the right side of the brain, Mojo and Inspiration is a much needed commodity.
How many times have we had the urge to do and just not being ale to let it loose. Or the other side, wanted to be creative, had all the time and yet… Nothing. No matter what you try, nothing seems to work, gel, look or sound the way it should.

I’ve been like the last little while. Alternating between the two. I might have spurts of creativity but not the time to make them last longer.

Today is working. Like magic. It started briefly during the week, in lead up to today. I made a start on one or two items last night and this morning it was all there ready to go.

As the picture shows, I have made 7 items, some just simple remakes into my new style, amongst the mess of bead order.

I will be getting good pictures of each tomorrow so keep an eye out on my Facebook and here for those.
Don’t forget, tomorrow is Monday so my new special will be announced for this week.

That would be my break over, time to get back to it.
Hope your weekend is going well.

– today was marked as making day as all but one of my boys have headed north to the V8 racing. I won’t see them til about 9pm tonight after leaving at 7 this morning. I would have liked to go, but it was it to be this time. I don’t mind too much as I am on a roll now –

New Display – new styling – new phrase

It’s been a few weeks since I’ve been here, and I haven’t done a damn thing craft wise. I have changed the blog theme again, after I posted that it was all good. I like it much better now. This is the one, and my new catch phrase is there at the top. I think that it encompasses my style well enough.

I have done a little more thinking, and today I bought some boxes for props. Even though they wont be used for carrying items, not all of them anyway, they wont be taking up extra space, as some of my other props will be relegated elsewhere. Never fear, they wont be gathering too much dust, I have plenty of chances to use differnet props.

I have decided on a feminine and retro vintage styled display. Something that accentuates my new jewellery and yet is an easy display to utilise. I feel this is the basis of my style, not totally retro or vintage, but a little of both maybe. Definitely feminine and funky. And totally Eclectic (according to the dictionary’s meaning – taking bits from different styles and using them all).

One set of boxes and ‘books’ all have the vintage Parisian look and pictures, while the other is slightly different with the words dream, believe, inspire and laugh on them with funky floral type patterns. Retro and funky, while still being inspirational.

This idea was all well and good until I set it up and realised that maybe the boxes would outshine the jewellery. Eek. I didn’t take that into account. They were covered with my white cloth and boxes turned into a mountain (thats what I saw, a rugged white mountain) and I draped necklaces over the edges, and added two earring stands. It looks much better. I might try it one day with bright pieces only on the darker boxes and see if it works.
Below is the mock set I did, only half done I know but the space is allocated to smaller items. I make sure all the large pieces and stands fit before anything else gets done. Please excuse the crappy night time pictures. I will do a short post tomorrow with it properly set up for market, hopefully it will look a lot better.

I have packed my boxes for market and I am really happy that I now only have 3 instead of 4 boxes, but there is less jewellery and so less props. If it all falls to shite, I can easily revert back to the way it was, but I am already liking this, weird as that may sound.

Happy crafting ๐Ÿ™‚

Market in my car

Some of you know I have a new car. If you don’t, head over here to check it out. Aside from the initial excitement that comes with a new car I have been hanging out to see how my market boxes stack up in the car. Literally.

Looking at the pictures it still has lots of space available. Our back seats fold in 60/40 so I can fold down one lot and Mr 8 can still sit in the back. I am a stickler for him not being in the front seat until he’s 10 unless he absolutely has to.

I have only laid down the seats as I am taking my small table for the Xmas period. My next market I will only take my 4 boxes and see how they fit in the boot on their own.

In the old car, the basket with my canvases had to sit on the back seat, and the box with my girls had to be half unpacked in the boot due to their height. As you can see, I have no problem with that.
