Wire work part 2

As you can see my first attempt at making a wire cage failed miserably didn’t quite go as planned so I will have a go at one or two of the ‘easier’ projects.
There are some nice shapes and half cages as well the lovely organic bird nest shapes I have been itching to make for a long time.

Another layout, and a full table

Sunday just past I spent the day at Huonville as is the way every 1st & 3rd Sunday of the month and took with me a new display.
I wanted to try out a new basket I was given, my bags on a rack and make the table full and inviting with lots of bright goodies on show.
It was certainly bright and inviting.

Next market I would like to try having the tables against the wall and sitting next to it. I need to have a play at home with that before hand, as keeping everything under the table might make it awkward.  And I would need to find somewhere to have my money and bags out of sight.
I’ve repacked my boxes so I can fit everything in with lids – 1 box only without – making it easier with the trolley and for when it’s wet.  It’s just a matter of remembering where everything goes.   I packed up slower this week to make sure everything fit, and also because there was a lot more to do.  I was one of the last to leave the hall, but that’s ok.
Just like when I have a new layout I will have to take pictures of what goes where in the boxes. Sounds silly, but if it means everything goes where it should and fits in the car then I have to do it.

Sunday morning, market day

A typical Sunday when I have a market. The only difference would be in hubby is home and he would be doing the to and from work trip with the eldest.

Laugh. Love. Live

6am. The alarm goes off, and in my semi comatose state fumble around to turn it off, and notice something. It’s pouring. Rain, cats and dogs. Yes! The tank needs it. The market doesn’t.
6.15. Figure if I don’t get up its not going to happen, and realise it’s not that cold. Shower and do some quick thinking to figure on easy but warm clothes.
6.30. Put coffee on to cook, boil kettle for thermos, eat breaky, and sort out my lunch. Pack lunch bag, put everything into the car, dodging raindrops and the dog.
7.00 brush teeth and get in car. Ugh, coffee on minty teeth, 😦 Spend 5 mins trying to get iPod sorted through the stereo.
7.05 finally on the road, the rain gets harder the closer I am to my destination.
8.00 arrive and unpack car. Still dodging the rain and now puddles.
9.00 fully set…

What a surprise! Workroom revamp again. Pt 1.

Hopefully this will be the last one.

I’ll admit it. I get bored easily. I like to move things around and keep myself on my toes. Sometimes it works, and then sometimes I can just leave things be. Like the bedroom, lounge, kitchen….. My work room, ‘studio’ creative space, is a whole different thing. I have been here before. Done posts, shown pictures, and yet here I am again, doing another. Why? Because I saw something today that resonated with me and I think it could work.
When I have a market, I have to tidy two (maybe three) tables so I can take one and organise myself on the other. Now imagine, if I could have it so that I didn’t have to do that every second week. Well organise the jewellery is a must, but having everything else properly organised so it was less fuss and bother.
Before I start, if you want to check here and here for other tidy studio posts go for it. They explain the circumstances and room space.
Ok, all read and up to date? Lets begin on this stage of my room.

While the pictures don’t quite show it properly, I saw the space around the tables and decided I really liked it. One thing was missing. The space to put everything properly. Now if only I could move just one item of ‘house’ furniture to make room for my things.

So much stuff and not enough room. I don’t want to feel crowded. I am already am really, with it the way it is.
Something has to change.
I spent some time, several coffees and measuring bits and pieces, then I sent a text to hubby “you don’t mind if I cover the fire place do you?” And the response that came back was “…I never want to see another fire place so go for it”
Enabling the help of two boys, we moved things and the result is as follows.
Where the bookcase used to be,

20130619-193735.jpg
And where the bookcase lives now. A perfect fit!! Yipee.

Next I thought I would re jig the filing cabinets and the wooden cube shelves. I figured if it didn’t look that good it wasn’t going to be a hard job to move back. And if it worked, I could actually gain 10cm on the other end near the bead shelves. And believe me, every centimetre counts.
Before the move

And after.. I did have a little trouble finding a filler to hold the shelves at the window end. Well I do still have to, I have something but it won’t last forever.

20130619-194507.jpg I do quite like it on it’s side as the things I need are easily reachable.

To be continued……

(Nature) Postcards from Marcato Designs

It’s blog post overload today. Sometimes I’m on a roll. A friend has asked if I would be interested in having some of my photos as postcards to sell in her post office to the tourists that come through. Now this is not the first time that someone has suggested me using my pictures for monetary gain. And now this has come up I am seriously thinking about it. First up it was getting them on canvas and selling large versions. I’m not in that frame just yet, but I think I can manage postcards.
The idea is, for my friend, to get pictures of our village, ones that are quintessentially Woodbridge, so she can sell them.

Off to vista print I will go and see what their prices are and how I can go about it. Before I even take any pictures I will be sussing out the price.
Will it be worth it for my friend. While I am there I will be sussing out the option of getting a collection of my favourite pictures and having them made up to sell on my website and at markets.

Just out of curiosity – while I go and do some research – head over to my photographic blog and check out some of the nature and scenery pictures and let me know what you think.
Which ones would you like as a postcard, or just as the picture?

~update~ How much would you pay for a photo postcard (with envelope) if you knew the seller had taken it, in both standard and oversize sizes.

Market mix up time.

This weekend is the second Huonville market, and hoping it’s a little busier. Last fortnight wasn’t too bad, but more people is always good – stall holders aswell as customers.
I have redone my display as I’m able to have a tiny bit more space and on Wednesday I’ll be picking up some more props. Nude half bodies with no head that I can hang on the wall. These will be super handy for here as well as Woodbridge, well, pretty well anywhere I can have wall space and a few hooks.
My new display will allow height, different items, earrings!!! and look much more inviting.

My banner will need a better string system for hanging, but I will sort that once my girls are hanging on the wall.

Have a great day, see you on Wednesday 🙂

thinking, working, making time

I’m in a bit of a muddle at the moment with four blogs, two fb pages and my markets and website to upkeep. And that’s without even thinking about the family side of things. While being able to multi task and be busy with many things, I do tend to be a bit of a one track mind and some things get left by the wayside til it’s desperate to fix them. That’s where I am now, oops.

I will be taking some time off to get everything sorted. All my picture files and what I do and don’t have have on hand, getting the website loaded so I can hide and show items on a rotating basis to allow for markets and keeping all sites fresh.
Fixing up the pages here with pictures of my market evolution, a price list page. I will be getting back into the UFO box as well as a basket of necklaces that are ready to be undone and re made into new items. Sure they’re still nice, but they are old and haven’t sold, so the beads get a new lease on life.

I will be posting things here on and off so please don’t stray too far.
Thanks for your consideration, 🙂
Jennifer

New blog design

I think I have finally done it. I have tried so many different themes over the last week, activated and then played with them. Some lasted minutes, others longer.

While browsing all those gorgeous themes, this is the one that I came back to more than once. I like it as the photo column is a set feature. I wanted to have photos featured on the front page, visible straight up to visitors, and with this theme I don’t need to add any codes or hassle with any bits I don’t understand. Pictures just arrive as they are posted.

The colouring is all I seem to be having difficulty with. I like brights, but the title colour won’t do what I want. Ah well, small problems. I’ll work around it somehow.

I hope you like the new look and if you know of another theme that would look equally as good or better – and supports a picture gallery as standard and is free – or think i could change something, please let me know.

Now that I’ve done this – and wasted lots of time – I have to upload a few more items to my website and get ready for the market this weekend. I have a few plans I need to ask our manager for adding into the blog.

20130219-224845.jpg a photo coz I can, of my stall.

Have a great week 🙂
